The Waikerie District Community Committee (WDCC) is pleased to launch the concept for the upgrade to Pioneer Park which has been approved by Council.
Pioneer Park is located between Cliff Street, Ian Oliver Drive, Crush Terrace and White Street in Waikerie with it's main features being a stand of Pine Trees and also a sizable diesel powered motor that was coupled to an irrigation pump representing part of the original irrigation delivery system for Waikerie and districts
The concept will feature the retention of the Pine Trees and the Motor which will be enhanced by additional plantings of low shrubs and trees and the installation of seating.
The WDCC is currently working through selection of species for planting which will generally be in line with Councils overall philosophy of water tolerant and low manintenace vegetation with a high appeal factor
Council has allocated up to $70,000 for this project in the 2012/2013 financial year
The WDCC is a committee of Council consisting in the vast majority of community members and is tasked with providing Council with advice on the presentation and enhancement of public spaces in Waikerie, walking trail networks, town plantings and the like.
