Citizen of the Year Awards
Nominations for Citizen of the Year are now open!
The District Council of Loxton Waikerie is pleased to announce that nominations for the Citizen of the Year Awards are open.
The Citizen of the Year program is run in partnership with the Australia Day Council of SA. The four categories include;
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
- Active Citizenship
The Awards acknowledge and celebrate individuals and organisations that have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year, and/or have given outstanding service over a number of years to their local community over and above normal employment duties. Outstanding contribution and community service includes areas such as education, health, fund-raising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, the environment, or any other area that contributes to the advancement and well-being within our community.
Award winners will be formally recognised for their achievements at the 2024 Loxton Australia Day Breakfast on Friday 26 January and at the Waikerie Australia Day Spectacular (date TBC).
Last year’s Loxton Citizen of the Year award was presented to Bert Haslam. Waikerie’s Citizen of the Year award was presented to Carmel Wuttke and the Event of the Year presented to theWaikerie Ladies Hospital Guild – 100 Year Celebrations.
Nomination forms are available on the Council’s website or through the Council offices in either Waikerie or Loxton.
Nominations must be made in writing and on the nomination form and will close 5.00pm on Thursday 30 November 2023.
