Dog and cat breeder registration is changing - click here to learn more.
Registration
Anyone who sells a dog or cat they’ve bred, intentional or not, must be registered as a breeder in Dogs and Cats Online. It costs $75 to register as a breeder on Dogs and Cats Online.
If you wish to operate a business which involves dogs, you will need to fill out an application for registration of a business involving dogs form and submit to Council.
For more information on registering as a breeder, visit Breeder Registration from Dogs and Cats Online.
De-sexing Exemption
While your breeder registration is active, you are exempt from de-sexing your breeding dogs/cats.
If you de-register or your registration lapses, you must de-sex your dog/cat unless you have another valid exemption.
Breeding & Selling
If you wish to sell dogs and cats that you have bred, there are 6 basic rules you must adhere to. See Dogs and Cats Online for the current requirements.
When advertising your puppies or kittens for sale, you must ensure you include :
- Your name & phone number
