Concrete Disposals

Council wishes to advise the community that all commercial concrete and brick disposals will now need to be taken to the Riverland Resource Recovery Facility (Cleanaway) in Monash, as will all residential concrete disposals above an 8x5 trailer.

Contaminated concrete is also not accepted at the Waste Transfer Stations (concrete stockpiles that contain sand, wood, fabric, reinforcing mesh and forticon), as it is near impossible and extremely costly to separate once it has been disposed of, which effects how the material can be recycled and used for future purposes, such as the construction of roads.

Please be aware that the Waste Transfer Station attendants have the right to refuse any load if it is suspected of being contaminated or does not comply with the new changes (no commercial loads of concrete/bricks, residential disposals limited to 8x5 trailer). Please also note that Council reserves the right to charge the customer for costs related to the incorrect disposal of contaminated waste.

Sort and Save

Council encourages residents to sort their waste to not only assist Council with our recycling and reuse practices but also to reduce the cost that residents will pay. By sorting waste into the different waste streams, such as concrete/rubble, green waste, clean timber, scrap metal it will minimise the amount of waste that goes into the general waste bins and will result in a reduction of the fees and charges above.
