Council Begins Concept Planning for Loxton and Waikerie Community Pools Redevelopment

Published 17th February 2025
Council has launched a concept planning and design project to guide the potential redevelopment and upgrades of the Loxton and Waikerie Community Pools.

As two of the region’s most cherished community assets, these pools are in need of vital infrastructure upgrades to meet current compliance standards and reflect the expectations of the local community.

Council has engaged two consultants, DesignInc and insideEDGE Sport and Leisure Planning, to work with the local community in developing of future revitalisation plans. The project will involve close collaboration between the consultants, the Council, and the community to explore a range of options to enhance the pool complexes.

To inform the planning process, prior to developing concept plans, Council invites input from the local community through one of two surveys, specific to each pool. The surveys will allow both current pool users and non-users to provide input on the future direction of the pools, including suggestions for potential upgrades and improvements. The feedback will play a key role in shaping the final concept plans.

The community consultation period begins Monday 17 February and will conclude at 5pm on Monday, 10 March 2025. Community members can provide feedback online via https://engagement.lwdc.sa.gov.au/loxton-and-waikerie-swimming-pool-upgrades, or in person at one of two community pop-up sessions scheduled for Monday, 3 March and Tuesday, 4 March 2025 (specific times to be announced). Additionally, hard copies of the surveys will be available at the Loxton Council Office and both the Loxton and Waikerie Libraries.

Council encourages all members of the community to participate in the consultation process to ensure the future of the Loxton and Waikerie Community Pools reflects the collective vision of the region.

“Our 2024-25 community engagement indicated that swimming pool upgrades were the community’s number one priority for projects in the coming financial years. We are excited to take the next step in making these much-needed upgrades a reality and are eager to hear from the community to ensure we deliver pool facilities that truly meet everyone's needs.”
