Council Publishes Suite of New Strategic Plans
Consisting of the Community Strategic Plan, Corporate Plan, and Annual Business Plan, Council is clear on its long-term vision for the district, as well as the priorities of the current Council during its term.
To successfully capture the aspirations and goals of the community in its approach, Council used the findings from a range of community engagement activities earlier this year, as well as feedback received during public consultation. Council is pleased to have received over 1,000 contributions from the public via community survey, investment activity, project voting, and a new project pitch forum, and is committed to ongoing collaboration with its residents.
The Community Strategic Plan will act as a long-term vision spanning 15 years, providing ‘big picture’ direction to Council. It is activated through the Corporate Plan, a 3-5 year outline of Council’s priorities and actions, providing operational planning and investigation of internal and external factors. Both of these strategies are guided by a number of local and regional plans, and directly influence Council’s budget and Annual Business Plan, a statutory requirement that outlines the financial estimates to deliver actions and projects from the Corporate Plan in the upcoming financial year.
Alongside a large number of capital and strategic projects endorsed for 2024-25, Council is looking forward to upgrading the Waikerie Civic Centre and Waikerie Institute for increased functionality, carrying out the ground works for the Loxton Oval Viewing Structure, and the installation of new electric vehicle fast chargers in Loxton’s CBD. Looking further ahead, Council also looks to prioritise the development of a district-wide ageing well strategy, continued support for the River Fringe, and improvements to long-vehicle parking across the district.
