Council Set to Launch Bank Stabilisation Design Consultation for Waikerie, Ramco & Paisley
The works will protect riverbanks from erosion, improve recreational access, and build resilience for future high river events.
With funding through the Constraints Group Program and the Community and Recreational Asset Restoration Program, specialist consultants have been engaged to develop concept designs for priority riverbank sections, including public access points and mooring areas.
Design work is scheduled for completion by December 2025, with relevant approvals sought by March 2026 and construction procurement to follow.
To assist with the development of detailed designs, Council invites residents, businesses, river users, and other stakeholders to provide their feedback on initial concept plans at one of three upcoming community pop-up sessions. The sessions will help to facilitate discussions about the proposed construction approach, and ensure the designs reflect community needs.
The sessions are scheduled to occur on Friday 17 October at the following locations and times:
- Paisley Riverfront: 9:30am – 10:30am
Lot 100 River Drive, Paisley SA 5357 - Waikerie & Ramco Riverfront: 1:00pm – 2:30pm
Rivergum Cruises Mooring Site, Leonard Norman Drive, Waikerie SA 5330 - Houseboat Owners (Waikerie) will be contacted regarding a dedicated session
Further information about the projects are available online at https://engagement.lwdc.sa.gov.au/. Following the pop-up sessions, the concept plans will be available to view online, along with an interactive feedback form for further comments.
Council will receive feedback until 5pm Friday 31 October 2025 and encourages all impacted community members to participate in the consultation.
“Riverfront access and stability are vital to our communities – not only for those who live and work in our district, but also for the many people who visit our region and contribute to the strength of our local economy. These works will help ensure our riverfronts remain safe, accessible and valued community assets for generations to come. I encourage all community members to share their views and help shape the future of our riverfronts.”
